When you think about The Big Day, picture this: many hundreds of teenagers from youth groups from all around uniting to serve a neighborhood in need.

The Big Day is a nation wide day of service that brings people together to be part of a new movement of Christian teens across the country who are uniting to show what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The Big Day is happening in Dubuqe on May 5, 2012 (add this date to your outlook calendar)

Participants will be serving in beautiful Dubuque - "The Masterpiece of the Mississippi River" - home of the great Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.  We will be working in the community with different service projects to include home repairs, painting, cleaning up parks and planting, and cleaning trails that were damaged during the flood of 2011.  Our goal is to show that young Christian youth can make a difference in communities by working together and showing God's love to others.

Currently, we will be volunteering at:  The Storybook Hill Children's Zoo , The Carnegie-Stout Public Library, Dubuque/Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, Dubuque Arboretum &  Botanical Gardens, Dubuque Main Street, Farmer's Market, Dubuque County Courthouse, Derby Grange Golf &  Recreation, Dubuque County Fairgrounds, Mines of Spain Recreation Area, City of Dubuque Park and Recreation Division, North End and Washington Neighborhood Areas, and the list continues to grow.

Dubuque is the oldest city in Iowa and is located on the northeastern part of the state along the mighty Mississippi River.  Because of the many century old churches, Dubuque is also known as the city with many steeples.  Your group might consider spending the night at a local church and take some time exploring beautiful Dubuque.

The Big Day starts off with a kickoff rally on the morning of the event, all supplies and project materials will be provided as well as lunch, devotional materials for mid-day break.  After our time of service is complete, everyone will join the neighborhood in a Block Party Celebration to finish the day!
